Motorcyclist injured after accident involving a tractor
A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with injuries to his arm and leg after being involved in a motorcycle accident with a tractor on a rural road.
Emergency services responded to calls at approximately 4.15pm in the afternoon after receiving reports that a man in his 50’s had sustained multiple injuries after falling off his bike following an incident with a tractor. He was assessed on the roadside by paramedics and ambulance crews and then transported via land ambulance to the nearest hospital for suspected leg and arm injuries.
His injuries are not thought to be life threatening at this stage and it is unknown whether the tractor driver sustained any injuries. Police want to identify the tractor driver, who did stop, but left no details and are asking for information from the local community to identify the driver.
When road traffic accidents occur on rural roads, they can often be serious due to the narrow roads, poor visibility on bends and the difficulty in emergency services getting to the injured parties.
Motorcyclist very rarely come off better when they collide with a large four wheeled vehicles such as farm vehicles in a road traffic collision. The law of physics always prevail and sadly the rider is often the casualty being airlifted to hospital whilst the driver suffers minor injuries. If you have been involved in a road traffic collision either as a motorcycle rider or passenger then you may be entitled to motorcycle accident compensation.
