Motorcycle crash leaves two hospitalised
A motorcyclist and his pillion passenger have been rushed to hospital after a road traffic incident on the M6 involving a Suzuki motorbike and a Skoda Yeti. The accident happened at 9.35am and emergency services, including an air ambulance, responded quickly to reports of the road collision.
The Police are appealing for information as to how the accident happened between the two vehicles. Both were travelling northbound and the Skoda was towing a caravan at the time of the accident.
A police spokesperson said: “This collision has left two people with serious injuries and we would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed what happened to contact us.”
The 38 year old male motorcycle rider is reported to have sustained a shoulder injury, fractured ribs and a head injury and as a result of the number of injuries, he was airlifted to the nearest emergency trauma unit. His passenger was a 50-year-old woman who sustained a pelvis injury and numerous cuts and bruises, but is thought to be in a less serious condition.
The male motorcycle riders condition is serious but not life threatening.
The Motorway was closed for several hours whilst accident investigators assess the cause of the accident.
