Road closed after hit and run motorcycle accident
Roads were closed for several hours after a motorcyclist was found injured in the road after being hit by a vehicle which had then driven away.
The motorcycle accident happened in the morning during rush hour at approximately 6.45am and emergency services arrived promptly at the scene to find that the vehicle involved had failed to stop to either help the motorcyclist or ring for an ambulance.
The accident happened near a junction and because the motorcycle was not going at speed, the motorcyclist suffered ‘non-life-threatening’ arm injuries rather than anything more serious. Police are now very keen to trace the driver and are asking for any witnesses to come forward with any information.
A police spokesman said: “Police were called at 6.45am on Friday 21st April 2017 with reports of a collision between a motorcycle and a car on the A… just prior to the junction for …….”
The motorcyclist, who was male, was treated at the roadside by ambulance crews and paramedics for his non-life-threatening arm injury and then taken to the nearest hospital for further treatment.
Motorcyclist very rarely come off better when they collide with a four wheeled vehicle in a road traffic collision. The law of physics always prevail and sadly the rider is often the casualty being airlifted to hospital whilst the driver suffers minor injuries. If you have been involved in a road traffic collision either as a motorcycle rider or passenger then you may be entitled to motorcycle accident compensation.
